OSD Growth... As other studios, from project studios to large commercial facilities, have struggled to stay afloat over the last few years, Oakwood Sound Design has flourished. We feel this is because of our dedication to versatility and service. We can produce a wide variety of recordings for all sorts of mediums. We bend over backward to get the sound clients are looking for! In our relentless pursuit of the best sound possible, we are constantly aquiring equipment that can best serve our purposes. Recent additions have catapulted OSD's capabilities to another level once again! These include the TC Electronic System 6000 multi-channel reverb, mastering and multi-effects processor; sync to picture capabilities; a Universal Audio 2-610 2-channel tube preamp; and a Royer R-121 ribbon microphone. See our Equipment List for more information on the items listed above. |
| Recent Projects... A Helping Hand: Reunion 2005 - Steven Curtis Chapman concert This Lexington, KY adoption agency puts on a huge picnic and outdoor concert every year for their clients. This June, they brought in Steven Curtis Chapman (also one of their clients) who put on a great show! OSD was in charge of sound system design, acquisition, setup, and operation. Around 2000 people showed up, and all agreed that it was definitely the best it's ever been. We've already been asked to pencil them in for next year.
Erica Crockett: Psalm 143 This budding singer/songwriter was already turning heads with this CD as we played it during the pre-show music at the Helping Hand event! Within minutes people were coming up to us asking where they could buy the CD. We had to tell them that this was just the demo, but they didn't care! They gave us email addresses so Erica could contact them as soon as she had something to send out!
David Arnold: solo CD A former member of Wake and Cash Dansby, Dave is now a producer and artist based in Nasvhille, TN. This project represents his first solo effort, a great new direction for his music, and his sixth project with Oakwood! Dave's long-standing relationship with us is a prime example of how we like to do business!
Manna: Full Album This hard rock band offers a unique mix of vintage and modern rock styles, which made for an exceptional challenge in the studio! We used a very modern miking approach, which turned out great. The drums are huge yet natural and the guitar sounds are exceptional -- easy to listen to, from the clean tones all the way to the rafter-shaking "wall o' guitars", and never too edgy or brittle. And of course Jonathan's lead vocals always exhibit his extensive training and talent!
Viking Productions: "Commissioned" & "The Virtual Kevin Project" Audio Post for two feature-length films. Commissioned required all audio events to be replaced in the studio -- a huge undertaking for any facility! As of this writing, nearly all of the dialog has been re-dubbed and we are looking forward to adding sound effects and mixing in 5.1. The Virtual Kevin Project is a documentary style film that combines indoor interviews with live shots that use the location audio plus a simultaneous feed from a cell phone! This of course presented some interesting problems with bleed-through, cell connection problems, cell phone interaction (buzzing) with our audio system, wind noise, etc. Our Audio Restoration tools are just what the doctor ordered for this project!
Will Solomon: A Blueprint A Lexington, KY artist who's often been called a "male Norah Jones". This EP is Will's first studio effort, and it was a great experience for all involved! His talent is considerable, but his touch on the guitar is so light that we had to use some extra sound absorbtion material around him to keep the noise level down. In the end we got a articulate, intimate guitar sound that everyone loved. And we got to work with Dave Arnold again in the producer's seat which is always fun! |
